Marghzar College for Women, now a prestigious female institution in
Gujrat, was established in 1983 when Lieutenant General Ghulam
Jillani Khan, the then Governor of Punjab, issued a directive to
establish a new girls’ college to meet the growing needs of students
of the northern side of Gujrat. The institution started its journey
with the dedication and efforts of the administration and staff. The
excellent results shown by the college are a sound proof of its
academic standards. Almost every year, its students get distinctions
in the Intermediate and Graduation examinations. It has earned a
good name in both extra-curricular and co-curricular activities as
well. The college was declared as the Model College by the Gujrat
City District Government in 2003.
Marghzar College for Women is situated at the juncture of Marghzar
Colony and Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital. The college covers 12.5 acres
of area with shady trees, lush green lawns and beds of colourful
flowers. It has been serving the community by providing the students
with a liberal and intramural environment. The building consists of airy
and spacious classrooms, 11 well-equipped laboratories, a rich library
of more than 10,000 books on various subjects, an auditorium having a
capacity of 500 seats, a magnificent mosque and a spacious cafeteria.
After becoming a constituent college of UOG,
