" Professional Competency Enhancement Program for
Teachers" (PCEPT)
[35 Participants Joined the Program]
(Gujrat) Enhancing
the standard of education is top priority of the University of
Gujrat’s administration. Teachers must equip themselves with
modern and innovative teaching skills. Pedagogical
techniques are precious asset of university teachers.
Academics at the campuses should interact with the students
regularly. The UOG has achieved a respectable status among
learning Centers in the country.
Faculty at the campus should feel
pride at this honor. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is generous
enough to support UOG for promoting the quality of teaching.
Faculty Development Program is reflective of the movement
launched by the HEC, to enhance the quality of education in the
country. These ideas were expressed by the Vice Chancellor
University of Gujrat Prof Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin, while
addressing the participants of the “Professional Competency
Enhancement Program for Teachers (PCEPT)” organized here at
Hafiz Hayat Campus. The PCEPT was organized by the Faculty
Development Resource Center in collaboration with the National
Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), at Higher Education
Commission, Islamabad.

The Vice Chancellor while interacting with
the participants of the program said that the UOG administration
is interested to develop avenues of mutual cooperation with the
world leading universities. The campus administration has signed
memoranda of understanding with the world’s leading campuses. It
will give opportunity to the UOG students to obtain degrees from
the universities like George Maison University, he remarked.

Renowned educationist and planners are
addressing the faculty on different subjects indispensable for
quality delivery in the teaching process. Among others,
Secretary Accreditation Council for Teachers Education Pakistan,
Prof Dr Irshad Ahmad Farrukh delivered eight different lectures
as master trainer. He exchanged his expertise on different
dimensions of “academic planning and management”, “management
and research” etc. Mr. Irshad Farrukh in his lectures said that
the instructors at different levels of teaching should opt the
strategies of teaching, keeping in view the learning
capabilities of students studying in the same class. Mr. Farrukh
said that teachers should promote the questioning attitude of
the students. Questioning, Mr. Farrukh said inculcates the
critical capabilities among the students. It promotes analytical
process and help finding new ways of enquiry.
The Associate Director FDRC, Ms Nisa Mirza appreciated the
participants’ enthusiasm in learning pedagogical skills. Ms Nisa
said that the extensive attendance of participants shows that the
faculty at the campus is determined to learn advanced
teaching skills. Thirty five participants from Hafiz Hayat
Campus are attending the program. Renowned educationists have
been invited to deliver their expert knowledge on more than ten
subjects of modern teaching skills.
