Research and
academic planning at the University of Gujrat have been devised
keeping in view the present day socio-economic challenges and
industrial demands of the market. It is imperative to make education
compatible with the socio-economic uplift of the country. Academic
agenda at the University of Gujrat is research oriented. Product
Design Centre here has been established at par with the
international standards. The Center is working hard to develop and
promotes the industrial infrastructure. Our campus administration
will cooperate mini industry in coming out any technical
complication. This was said by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr.
Mohammad Nizamuddin in a meeting with the members of the Gujrat
Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI).
Delegates of the
GCCI were invited to witness the First Thesis Exhibition 2010 of the
students of Product Design, Graphics Communication, Textile designing
and Multimedia at School of Art & Design. Vice Chancellor stressed the
need to establish industrial-academia linkages to benefit from the
innovative designs developed at the centre. On the occasion member of
GCCI were also briefed by the Director PPDC and School of Art & Design
Prof. Fawad Khawaja. Mr. Khawaja proposed a comprehensive plan of the
collaboration between centre and the industry. He said that our center
has established a unique plan of producing industrial commodities. We
have arranged the latest equipment and expertise in the field, Prof.
Khawaja remarked. He stressed the significance and prospects of
Product Designing Industry. He said that Pakistan can only excel in
export sector by paying special attention to an innovative designing.
Prof. Khawaja maintained that the Centre has produced a lot of
expertise in different fields. He said that our alumni have
recognition in the market. He said that the product designing is vital
for peoples’ consumption of daily life Commodity. Prof. Khawaja
briefed about the strategy of the Centre by which students are tuned
up with the special innovative tendencies in model designing. He
explained various techniques for getting in the market. He said that
low cost and pragmatically designed articles have a special value in
the market. He explained different techniques for getting in the mass
consumers market. Prof. Khawaja urged the delegates to persuade
industrial units to avail the opportunity of the Centre. On the other
hand, President GCCI Mirza Imtiaz Ahmed while visiting the PPDC
remarked that the varsity has started producing the skilled human
resource in the different fields of the running industry. Our chambers
will definitely try to avail the opportunities at PPDC. Plans and
equipments at the Centre are diverse and modern. They can be used to
fulfill plans at the designing industry. GCCI will try to overcome the
industrial downfall of the local industry by availing the facilities
available at the University of Gujrat in the form of skilled human
resource or an industrial planning. He termed the vision and planning
of the administration of the UOG modern, practical and compatible with
the industrial demands.
