Norway Interested in Educational Development in Pakistan

The memoranda of understanding between
University of Gujrat (UOG) and the Norwegian institutions will
soon be a reality. The UOG leadership is visionary. Campus is
unique in research projects and planning in all respect.
Norwegian Institutions will support it in various areas. Norway
is interested in establishing a center at the UOG Campus for
learning Norwegian language, culture and history. The campus has
a unique landscape. The academic environment is propitious to
learning and student-friendly. These remarks were given by the
Norwegian ambassador, his Excellency Mr Robert kvile while
addressing students and the faculty in a seminar on “Academic
and Technical Cooperation between Norwegian Academic
Institutions and the UOG” at Hafiz Hayat Campus.
Mr Kvile
said that the ethnic situation in Norway at present is
harmonious. There is complete socio-cultural and religious
harmony among the populace. There are more then 120 mosques and
other Islamic institutions generously financed by the Norwegian
government. Among foreign immigrants in Norway, people of the
area of Gujrat have considerable proportion. They constitute
proficient and hardworking work force of Norway.

Earlier,
the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin welcome Mr Kvile
in his office and shared the matters of mutual interests. The VC
while addressing the seminar remarked that the Norwegians have a
marvelous history of assisting the world in human affairs. He
highlighted the Norwegian role in contributing humanitarian
causes, raising voice on human rights issues and the matters of
protecting the human values all over the world. The VC stressed
various areas of the mutual cooperation in the filed of research
between Norwegian institutions and the UOG. He said that faculty
at UOG has the potential of initiating projects in the energy
sector like solar, wind and biogas technologies.

The Vice Chancellor desired the ambassador for establishing
immediate contacts with the Higher Education Commission for
cooperation and bringing both countries closer in research and
academic cooperation. The VC also highlighted the youth’s
potential for immigration and settling permanently in the
country like Norway. He said that the youth in Pakistan is
mentally active and vibrant. They can adjust and contribute any
where in the world.
