Win Second
Position Among 77 Competitors
The Faculty of management Studies, University of Central Punjab
organized a BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION. The event was conducted
over four days, January 25 to January 28, 2010. The yearly event
was organized with major support from the Lahore Chamber of
Commerce, with fifty five sponsors. The major ones were:
University of Central Lancashire, Intel, Shezan, Mobilink, Walls
and U Rock.
Twenty five academic institutions - Public as well as Private -
sent seventy seven Teams. The University of Gujrat, School of
Business and Administrative Sciences was represented by one Team
of five students: Ms Samreen Ashraf, MBA, Third Semister, Ms
Syeda Aliyeen Bukhari, Ms Nukhba Naveed, Ms Mehwish Munawar, and
Mr Zain Nabi all four from BBA Fifth Semester. Mr Javed Iqbal,
BBA student rendered the much needed logistical support to
fellow students.
The UOG Team selected "READY TO WEAR HIJAAB" as
the concept for their Business Plan. The 'Concept Statement' ,
based on which the entry was selected, was:
" We are providing ready to wear Hijaab services along with the
accessories. Our main focus is on the women who are in the
search to fulfill their 'Pardah' needs, besides preserving and
fostering 'Style'; and they treat Hijaab as a necessary while
going out of their homes"
The competing Teams went through three stages:
1. The preparation of the Stall with the requisite decorations
2. Ad (Advertisement) Gala
The competition was judged by a distinguished personalities from
Media, Industry, Fashion and Academia.
A number of contestants did not make through the first stage;
and some others could not make to the third round. only twenty
of the seventy Teams made to the final.
The UOG Team earned the second position. However they trailed
merely by 0.45 marks.
The winning Team, which belonged to the host institution,
carried the first prize with an overall score of 82.6 points out
of 100. The UOG Team earned 82.15 points.
The UOG Team and the Faculty of Business and Administrative
Sciences are indebted to the Registrar for the timely guidance
for participation in the competition. the owe immense debt of
gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for his encouragement, support
and guidance.
The Vice Chancellor's commitment to inculcate excellence among
the UOG teaching staff and students was the principal guiding
force behind the Team's success. They had a very short time to
prepare for the competition, but compete they did; and carried
the day with distinction and honor.
The Team was principally guided by Mr Waqas Mansoor Dar and Mr
Dar was Assisted by Mr Yasir Farooqi, Lecturers with the
specialization in Marketing. Mr Adnan Bashir, Coordinator, Mr
Ali Abdullah, Lecturer and Mr Saqib Sheikh, Lecturer provided
the mush needed support and guidance to the Team and assistance
to Mr Waqas Mansoor Dar. These three visited the Team at Lahore
and rendered support and encouragement on behalf of all faculty
members.
The Faculty members and the Director of the faculty are
gratified, they feel professionally rewarded that their students
demonstrated competence, confidence and effective communication
skills - the primary traits of young, competitive business
leaders of tomarrow.
