A Lecture-cum-Performance of Original Music

 

Odium Art Society (OAS) at the University of Gujrat in collaboration with Sur Sangeet  has organized a presentation of lecture-cum-performance on original music by a renowned composer, vocalist, conductor and musicologist Dr Akmal Parwez on Thursday October 7th here at Video Conferencing Hall  Hafiz Hayat Campus, the University of Gujrat.

 

According to the details given by a representative of OAS, program will begin with the introductory remarks by Dr Akmal on the need to teach and conduct research on the musical heritage of Pakistan, ethnomusicology, mysticism and music at the university level. Later, presentation on audio CD/Computer Graphics presentation on song of the Reed for Solo Flute (7), Mystic Prelude for Flute, Clarinet, Cor Anglais, Violin & Cello (5) and The Chenab for Alto Flute, Harp and String-&-Percussion Orchestra (10) will be performed. 

 

Later, teacher at Musicology Department at NCA Lahore, renowned Dhrupad vocalist Aliya Rashid will perform to amuse the participants.

 

Live performance on different “Gazals”, “Kaafis” and “Geet” will also be presented. Video presentation has also been organized to mark the event more interesting so video presentation on “Once upon a Springtime for Flute, “Bassoon and Symphonic Wind Ensemble (8)” and “PlaintSong for Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon, Trumpet, Trombone & Percussion (7)” will also be played.
