Academic Cooperation - UOG Signs Accord with US Varsity
Realizing the
importance of understanding on educational cooperation between
the United State and Pakistan, the University of Gujrat and
George Mason University, Fairax, Virginia, USA have agreed to
initiate academic cooperation between the two institutions.
Purpose of this agreement is to stimulate and support different
projects of educational and intercultural activities. The
details were given in the copy of agreement received by the
Media and Publications here at Hafiz Hayat Campus. The agreement
was singed by the Provost George Mason University, Peter N.
Stearns and the Vice Chancellor University of Gujrat, Prof Dr
Muhammad Nizamuddin. Details of the agreement revealed that both
the varsities have agreed to explore the avenues of joint
academic endeavors in the areas of curricular development,
promoting research opportunities for the students of higher
learning and the preparation of the funding proposals in support
of academic development. Different components of the agreement
like conditions of amendments, renewal, termination and
limitations on liabilities have duly been agreed by the both
parties.
Implementation of the area of
collaboration shall be the financial arrangements of support to
these activities and Mason academic policies including policies
on joint degrees. The Mason University will seek approval of the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) or the State
Council for Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV) for the
proposed collaboration.
