A Lecture
Performance Dr Akmal Parwez Music
"Music is the fundamental and core spirit of the system of nature.
Sufies of Indo-Pak used music to promote their message to the
masses. Mystic poetry of Shah Hussain and Madhu Lal is the
everlasting workable model of the purposeful musical massage. These
views are shared by the Musicologist, Composer, Conductor and
Vocalist Dr Akmal Parwaz while delivering a lecture on
Ethnomusicology arranged by the Odium Art Society of the University
of Gujrat. Odium Art Society with the collaboration of Sur Sangeet
Gujrat arranged this lecture-cum-performance session. Live
performance on different “Gazals”, “Kaafis” and “Geet” was also
presented by Dr Akmal. Video presentation was also been produced to
mark the event more interesting on “Once upon a Springtime for
Flute, “Bassoon and Symphonic Wind Ensemble (8)” and “Plaint Song
for Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon, Trumpet, Trombone & Percussion (7)”
were also presented by the musical expert. Video presentation on the
composed music based on the Eastern and Western pattern was also
produced by him.

To mark the event interesting and memorable,
teacher at Musicology Department at NCA Lahore, renowned Dhrupad
vocalist Aliya Rashid was invited to perform on the occasion. She
played Dhrupad and general music to amuse the participants.
Folk Punjabi singer of area, Dr Azhar Mehmood Choudhry also
presented folk music on Saif-ul-Muluke. Renowned flutist Zahid
Rafique form Wazirabad amused the session unprecedentedly. Zohab
Hassan, a representative Amratsari Gharana performed on Sarangi on
the occasion.

Lecture-cum-performance activities were conducted by Additional
Registrar, Media & Publications Sheikh Abdul Rashid in an impressive
manner. In the end, the Vice Chancellor thanked all the artists and
the audience for sharing the session. He pledged on the occasion his
patronage to make the life live able and loveable at the campus. He
congratulated the organizers. Ms Jahan Ara Nazim the supreme
organizer of the event thanked the artists and the audience for
attendance. She to hailed the management of the organizers. "
