Visit of Economics Department to National Library of Pakistan,
Islamabad
Students of Economics
department along with five of their faculty members; Dr. Atif
Ali Jaffri, Ms. Abre-Rehmat, Ms. Shumaila Hameed, Mr. Tanveer
Ahmed and Mr. Samiullah visited National Library of Pakistan,
Islamabad on April 03, 2010.
National Library is very helpful in context of research
material and preservation of knowledge. Here online data is also
available on their website (www.nlp.gov.pk).
Books in Pakistan are collected freely under law but library has
to buy books from the international market. Research officer
Syed Ghayur Hussain briefed students regarding the history,
usefulness and benefits of the library resources that students
can avail free of cost. He also assured his guidance for any
future needs regarding material for research; data sources and
course development. Then Head of Reader’s services of National
Library, Mr. Azmat Hussain Sidiqui guided the students and
faculty to different sections of library. The visit proved very
informative and encouraging for the upcoming economists. This
interaction with a worthy institution will hopefully bring forth
collaboration in terms of research work between UOG and NLP.
