The virulence gene iucA of
E.coli clinical
isolate was amplified through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR),
as a result of a series of experiments which I conducted from 10th
Feb 2010 to 22nd Feb 2010 in the Molecular Biology Lab
Department of Zoology. The results are shown below:

Figure 1: Result of the first experiment
performed on 10th Feb. 2010. Here 760 bp fragment of
iucA gene of clinical E.coli isolates was amplified. M = 100 bp
DNA size marker

Figure 2: Results of second experiment
performed on 20th Feb. 2010. Here results of the
first experiment were reproduced and another primer pair was
optimized to obtain 856 bp fragment of the iucA gene of clinical
E.coli isolates was amplified
It is a great breakthrough for the
university’s biological sciences research. Now this platform can
be used for the modern research. With establishment of this
setup in Molecular Biology lab, research can be conducted in
areas; molecular virology, molecular diagnostics, biotechnology,
recombinant DNA technology (genetic engineering- especially gene
cloning), biopharmaceutical, genetic diseases and molecular
forensics.
