University of Gujrat is a Centre of Excellence in the
Making: Khawaja Mohammad Asif (MNA)
I am pretty sure that
university of Gujrat is a Centre of excellence in the making.
The outstanding features of the University of Gujrat speak
volumes of its visionary leadership, who has managed time and
resources to build a marvelous structure, which will prove a
national asset. Its architecture is fantastic, equipped with
state of the art modern educational technological facilities and
its intellectual ambience is inspiring. I will spare no effort
in the growth and development of this university. We are badly
in need of such institutions. UOG should be projected in media
with its intellectual, humanitarian, cultural, nation- building
and research activities. These views were expressed to the media
by Khawaja Mohammad Asif Central leader of Pakistan Muslim
League (N) presently MNA and ex-federal minister, on his
surprise visit to UOG. Khawaja Mohammad Asif on his way from
Islamabad to Sialkot, was received at University of Gujrat by
its Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin. The Vice
Chancellor presented him with a gift of university publications.
He was taken around the university. He was briefed about the
development projects of the university at the Video Conferencing
hall in which senior staff Directors and Heads of the
departments participated. Professor Dr Nizamuddin on behalf of
the university welcomed him, and in his address remarked that
universities are not build up purely for the dispensation of
knowledge but are artfully structured on research and should
prize themselves for their integration with the community. We
are determined and have the will to build UOG into a
centre of excellence for research and academic pursuits, which
can match up with the best possible universities of the world.
Later on Khawaja
Mohammad Asif visited Nawaz Sharif Medical College where the
Principal of the College Prof Dr Nasir Aziz and Vice Principal
Dr Tanveer Zia Qureshi briefed him and referred to the
achievements and awards won in this short time. The guest also
visited School of Art Design and Architecture, Science
laboratories, library and different departments. He highly
appreciated the facilities provided for academic activities and
research.
At the end Khawaja
Muhammad Asif while talking to the media appreciated the
fantastic achievements of the University. Its contribution
towards knowledge research, academic, curricular and
co-curricular activities was very encouraging. University of
Gujrat, is going in the right direction. Its strategy of
gathering, creating and dispensing knowledge is really
commendable. It is a modern university equipped with modern
facilities which is in keeping with the spirit of the times. It
has been a pleasant surprise to visit such a modern university.
It is an asset and an apt gift for the coming generations.
He expressed his desire
to visit UOG again.
