UOG Relief Aid Worth Thirteen Millions Rupees Distributed

 

UOG flood relief volunteers contingent backed by the Pakistan Army, under the leadership of Mrs Jahan Ara Nizam, Prof Dr Zafar Yab and Dr. Fauzia Maqsood have successfully distributed 19 truckloads of food and non food consumable items worth thirteen million rupees to the flood affected populace of Khawza Khaila and Swat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. This relief operation took five days.

 

Nawaz Sharif Medical College (NSMC) setup a camp there and provided medical aid to the people.

 

In response to the first directive from the Chancellor / Governor of the Punjab, on August 3, 2010, Prof Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin immediately chalked out a comprehensive flood relief strategy and in collaboration with the Pakistan Army, launched a flood relief campaign which is picking up momentum day by day. Furthermore Dr Nizamuddin has set up a permanent Disaster Management Cell (DMC) to coordinate all relief activities. A separate bank account has been set up with the Bank of Punjab for this purpose. UOG staff has donated Rs. 5,85,459/- towards flood relief fund of Govt of the Punjab.

 

An amount of Rs. 5,23,826/- has been deposited in the Governor Punjab Flood Relief Fund.
