Abstract	Exports can help the country to integrate in the world economy and help to reduce the impact of external shocks on the domestic economy. As any economy adopt export promotion policy it will certainly generate many positive externalities like large scale economies of scale like pecuniary and real economies, division and specialization of labor which ultimately enhance the economic growth. The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between export expansion and economic growth in four developing SAARC countries as Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Nepal by employing Time series data analysis. In this study ADF test is applied to check the stationary and the result shows that all the variables for each country are non-stationary at their levels but stationary at their first differences. To check cointegration, Generalized Johansen Cointegration framework is applied for some countries and on the other hand cointegration is found so multiple regression analysis is used for other countries.

Abstract	Export-led-growth is reinvestigated by time series econometric techniques (Unit root test, Co-integration and Granger causality through Vector Error Correction Model) over the period of 1970 to 2008 for Pakistan. In this paper, the results reveal that export expansion leads to economic growth. It is also checked that whether there is uni-directional or bi-directional causality between economic growth, real exports, real imports, real gross fixed capital formation and real per capita income. The traditional Granger causality test suggests that there is uni-directional causality between economic growth, exports and imports. On the other hand Granger causality through vector error correction is checked with the help of F-value of the model and t-value of the error correction term, which partially reconciles the traditional Granger causality test.

Abstract	The paper examines the impact of globalization and economic reforms on human development in Pakistan for the period 1980 to 2008. An empirical model is developed to estimate the impacts of foreign direct investment, trade openness, financial sector liberalization and private investment on human development. Long run cointegrating relationship is found between the variables by applying Johanson’s cointegration technique. Further, the results of Error Correction Model indicate that foreign and private investment significantly affect human development both in short and long run, while private sector credit is significant only in the short run and trade opnenness is insignificant both in short and long run. The results show that to improve human development Pakistan can follow the policy of liberalizing both foreign and domestic investment.

Abstract	Women empowerment is an important concern now a day. Women are also an important element of a country’s population. Their contribution is equally important as of men. So to make them active participant for development there is need of proper initiatives. To integrate women in development it is important to preview male youth’s thoughts regarding their integration. For this purpose this study shows that the attitudes are changing but the male dominating culture in Pakistan is restricting its transformation into practice. There is need to amelioration in gender prospective by redefining gender roles for the meaningful women empowerment in the society. There is work going on to change the attitude and to transform it into action. But women empowerment is a social phenomenon so any change in a social phenomenon is gradual and slow in nature. It will take time to bring a change in the situation of women empowerment in the country.

Abstract	The paper estimates the demand for money in Pakistan using Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach to cointegration analysis. The empirical results show that there is a unique cointegrated long-run relationship among M2 monetary aggregate, income, inflation and exchange rate. The income elasticity and inflation coefficients are positive while the exchange rate elasticity is negative. Our results also, after incorporating the CUSUM and CUSUMSQ tests, reveal that the M2 money demand function is stable between 1973 and 2007.

Abstract	This study examines the sectoral oil consumption and its impact on economic growth of Pakistan for the time period of 1972-2008. For this purpose different time series techniques are applied to estimate the relationship. The result shows that major sectors of oil consumption (transportation, power generation and industry) are positively contributing, while the minor sectors of oil consumption (household, government and agriculture) are negatively contributing in economic growth. Stability of the model is checked by error correction model, which explain that model used in this study is stable and all the variables are contributing in stability of model. Traditional granger causality test shows that there is uni-directional causal relationship between real GDP, transport sector and industrial sector with power sector in Pakistan.

	Abstract	Every day many people are killed and injured on our roads. Men, women, children, biking or riding to school or work, playing in the streets or setting out on long trips, will never return home, leaving behind shattered families and communities. Road traffic injuries are a growing public health issue, disproportionately affecting vulnerable groups of road users, specially the poor. Main causes which are found behind these road accidents are lack of training institutes, unskilled drivers, poor road conditions, use of cell phone during driving, use of intoxicants, over loading and poor performance of government in this regard. If these issues are tackled in a manner way then it can positively affect the social and economic conditions of the residents of developing countries.
