Prof
Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin assumed the charge as UOG’s Vice Chancellor on 19
September 2006. He brings with him an excellent academic and
administrative record. He did his PhD from the University of Michigan,
Ann Arbor, and Master’s from the University of Chicago, and BA (Honours)
and Master’s from the University of Karachi.
Prof Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin served the United Nations for 24 years, and
held senior positions in Jordan, Egypt and Ethiopia. He also served as
director of the Asia and Pacific Region, and as director of Technical
and Policy Division of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) at the
UN Headquarters in New York.
Before joining University of the Punjab in January 2005 as a HEC Foreign
Professor, Prof Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin taught public policy and
development subjects, besides supervising Master’s and PhD theses, as
Clinical Professor of Socio-medical Sciences at the Columbia University,
New York. He also taught as an Assistant Professor at the University of
North Carolina, Chapel Hill; and as a Visiting Professor at the
University of Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), the University of Jordan and the
Cairo Demographic Centre (Egypt).
Prof Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin has authored more than two dozen technical
papers, supervised research, contributed to UN publications, and
conducted seminars and conferences throughout the world. |
