MILESTONES (Inception to the Present Status)

 

  1. The Government of the Punjab introduced UOG Bill 2004 which was passed by the Provincial Assembly on 14/01/2004 and later on the same was assented to by the Governor Punjab on 19 February, 2004
  2. Establishment of University of Gujrat” under Act IX of 2004 by Govt. of the Punjab and University of Gujrat was established on 28/02/2004
  3. 122 acres of land was transferred from Department of Auqaf, Govt of Punjab, in 2004.
  4. Mr. Kahild Hanif (Additional Secretary, Education) was appointed as first Project director in March 2004
  5. Dr Imtiaz Ahmad Cheema was appointed as first Vice Chancellor of UOG in May 2004.
  6. PC-1 was submitted to the Planning and Development Department, of Govt of the Punjab.
  7. The first stone was laid down by Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain.
  8. Construction of Academic Block and Vice Chancellor Residence began in 2005.
  9. First exam of BA. BSc and B.Com was held in 2005.
  10. Prof Dr. Mohammad Nizamuddin took over the charge as Second Vice Chancellor on Sep 11 2006.
  11. Camp office was established at “Fawara Chowk, Gujrat”.
  12. The UOG moved to the new campus (Hafiz Hayat) in June 2007.
  13. The formal inauguration ceremony took place on 3rd July 2007 by the Chief Minister, Punjab, Chaudhary Pervez Elahi.
  14. An open day orientation of four years degree programme held on 24 September, 2007 at UOG.
  15. Launching ceremony of MLLC was held on the 16 July, 2007. The first English language course of the new MLLC was due to start the next day 17 July, 2007 with approximately 40 students.
  16. UOG declared its B.A./B.Sc. annual results of 2007 on the 24 August, 2007.
  17. Directorate of External Linkages, Student Services and ICCSC (International Center for Civil Society and Cooperatives) were established in November 2007.
  18. Pakistan Product Design Center was established in 2007.
  19. Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) was established at UOG in January 2008.
  20. 1st Annual Sports Gala was arranged on 15 March 2008.
  21. Science Block was inaugurated by Lt. Gen. Khalid Maqbool Governor, Punjab in 2008.
  22. Pakistan Product Design Center was inaugurated by Mr. Salman Taseer Governor, Punjab in 2008.
  23. Nawaz Sharif Medical College was established as constituent college in 2009.
